Ky Huang

About.png

Ky (1948–2018) was a Singaporean artist whose works bridged the realms of  the natural and artificial, offering a fresh perspective on balance and form. While much of his career was defined by his sculptural creations, his paintings reveal a deeply personal and expressive side of his artistry.

Under the mentorship of grandmaster Lee Man Fong, Ky mastered the principles of composition and balance, which became hallmarks of his work. His relationships with Singapore’s pioneer artists, such as Seah Kim Joo, Thomas Yeo, and Chen Wen Hsi, further shaped his artistic vision. He refined his techniques through evening classes at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the People’s Association (PA).

After retiring from the corporate world in 2007, Ky co-founded an art gallery with friends, traveling extensively in Southeast Asia to collect and support emerging artists. His passion for fostering talent was evident in the workshops he conducted for PA and his role in organizing the Chingay 2011 art competition and exhibition.

KY’s paintings reflect his keen understanding of composition and a vibrant use of color. They embody the same playfulness and dynamism that defined his career, offering a glimpse into a different dimension of his creative legacy.
