Phan Thanh Minh

Born  in 1976 in Hoi An, central Vietnam, Phan Thanh Minh is a contemporary  expressionist painter whose emotionally charged and vividly colored  portraits explore the raw depths of the human experience.


He earned his degree in Graphic  Arts and Fine Arts from Ho Chi Minh City University in 2007. In 2008,  shortly after graduating, he was selected to participate in a  prestigious group exhibition in Beijing, featuring outstanding emerging  artists from Vietnam and China.

Minh held his first solo  exhibition in 2011 at the Himiko Visual Art Gallery in Ho Chi Minh City.  Since then, his work has been shown in numerous solo and group  exhibitions throughout the Far East and around the world. He continues  to create from his studio in his hometown of Hoi An.


Deeply rooted in expressionism,  Minh’s work is characterized by bold brushstrokes, high-energy  compositions, and a vivid, unrestrained color palette. His portraits are  not just images—they are visual narratives that evoke atmosphere,  emotion, and psychological intensity.
